Turned away by hospital, woman delivers still-born child
Lucknow, Oct 10 (IANS) After being turned away by a hospital for not paying a bribe, a woman gave birth to a still-born child at her home in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district, officials said Friday.
Pregnant Guria was Thursday brought to the District Women's Hospital in Badaun, over 250 km from here, but was denied admission as her husband refused to pay a bribe to the medical staff there, an official said.

Guria gave birth to a still-born child even though her husband managed to call a midwife for the delivery.
'We believe the child could have been saved if Guria was admitted timely in the hospital,' Chief medical officer Rajendra Kumar told IANS over telephone.
A probe has been ordered into the incident and strict action would be taken against all those found guilty, he added.
