Bangalore, Oct 9 (IANS) Australia went in to lunch at 75 for 1 on the first day of the first test against India at the Chinnaswamy stadium here, after winning the toss and electing to bat.
Australian skipper Ricky Ponting was batting on 41 and Simon Katich was on 28 at lunch. The visitors had lost the wicket of Mathew Hayden in the first over of the day, caught behind off Zaheer Khan before a single run had been scored.
