Steve Jobs to receive posthumous Grammy award

Washington, Fri, 23 Dec 2011 ANI

Washington, Dec 23 (ANI): Steve Jobs will be posthumously honoured with the 'Trustees Award' at the Grammys next year for his "outstanding contributions to the industry in a non-performing capacity".

The former CEO and co-founder of Apple, died in October from a rare form of pancreatic cancer.

Steve's company popularized the personal MP3 player with their iPod device, and set up the most commonly used digital method of music distribution worldwide through its 'iTunes' store.

The company also developed a number of software packages, which have aided musicians in recording, at relatively cheaper cost.

"This year's honourees offer a variety of brilliance, contributions and lasting impressions on our culture," Contactmusic quoted the US National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) CEO Neil Portnowin as saying.

"It is an honour to recognise such a diverse group of individuals whose talents and achievements have had an indelible impact on our industry," he added.

The Grammy Awards will take place on 12 February 2012 in Los Angeles. (ANI)
