New Delhi/Jodhpur, Dec 4 (ANI): Sacked Rajasthan Minister Mahipal Maderna, who has been arrested in connection with the Bhanwari Devi abduction case, was brought to New Delhi today by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further interrogation.

He was brought to the national capital from Jodhpur amidst tight security.

59-year-old Maderna, however, claimed his innocence in the case.

"I will act under the political obligations and continue my struggle to prove my innocence under the given circumstances," he told mediapersons in Jodhpur.

Maderna, who was sacked from Ashok Gehlot cabinet on October 16, was arrested by the CBI on Friday along with the brother of a ruling Congress MLA in Bhanwari Devi abduction case.

The arrest came soon after the investigating agency filed its first chargesheet in the case.

Bhanwari, posted as an auxiliary nurse midwife at a sub- centre in Jaliwada village went missing on September 1 after a CD allegedly showing Maderna in a compromising position with her had come to light.

Her husband, Amarchand, has alleged she was abducted at the behest of Maderna and his associates. 59-year-old Maderna has so far denied the charges. (ANI)
