J & K Bank, Nationals enter DDA football semis

Walled city favourite Indian National FC and Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Jammu registered an identical two-goal margin victory over their respective opponents Garhwal Heroes and State Bank of Travancore, Kerala to enter the semifinals of the Lt. Governor Cup football tournament played at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday.

S. Rizwan and Badru Keke Ibrahim were the scorers for the Jammu outfit while Lalit Rawat and Ifeanyi scored the goals for Indian National FC.

Last year DSA finalists Indian National and Osian’s ND Heroes will again fight it out in the semifinal while J&K Bank will meet ONGC, Mumbai in the other semi-final, to make their place for the Monday finals, at the same venue on Saturday.

Kislay Sajwan to lead Delhi under-14 football team

Kislay Singh Sajwan will lead the Delhi under-14 football team in the All India Football Federation (AIFF) football festival commencing from February 23 at Goa.

Other members of the team include Shashwat Misra, Gaurav Rawat (goalkeepers), Rahul Aswal, Real Singh, Rodrick Joseph, Rajendra Singh, Ankit Yadav (defenders), Supunya Davavrat, Yudhveer Singh Rawal, Ishan Pakrasi, Shrikhant Mohan,Sachin Rawat, Anirudh Ohja, Michael Chongthu,Anish Kumar,Vidur Kathuria (forwards).

Arshad shines with ball

A fine bowling spell by Arshad Masih (4/29) helped Minda Group XI beat HCA by five wickets to enter the quarter-finals of the second Mahender Singh Shokeen memorial cricket tournament.

Brief scores: HCA: 154 in 32.3 overs (Rajeev Sharma 43, Arshad Masih 4/29) lost to Minda Group XI: 155/5 in 28.1 overs (Gaganpreet Singh 56, Sunny Arora 52, Rajeev Sharma 2/24).

Ajay scalps four

Deadly bowling by Ajay Honda (4 for 24) helped Trinidad and Tobago High Commission beat Ministry of Information and Broadcasting by 31 runs in a league match of the eighth Commonwealth cricket tournament.

Brief scores: Trinidad High Commission XI: 168 in 28.5 overs (Kamal Thapa 40, Kailash Chander 4/37, Virender Singh 3/32) bt I&B XI: 137 in 27.4 overs (Jaidev Katoch 46, Ajay Handa 4/24, Kamal Thapa 4/ 28).

Manish Group in Khushal Memorial final

Manish Group XI beat Shanti Sports Club by eight wickets to enter the final of the Khushal Memorial day/night u-17 cricket tournament.

Brief scores: Shanti Sports Club: 96 in 19.5 overs (Vivek Tyagi 43; Yatharth Tomar 5/14) lost to Manish Group XI: 100/2 in 18.4 overs (Nitish Rana 37 n.o., Akash Chauhan 2/36).

Ranjit Singh’s all-round display

A fine all-round display by Ranjit Singh (55 runs and 4/42) helped RLA College (evening) beat IG Institute of Physical Education College by 11 runs.

Brief scores: RLA: 181 in 27.4 overs (Ranjit Singh 55, Kanishak 4/29) bt IGPC XI: 170 in 29 overs (P Kataria 48, Ranjit Singh 4/42).
