Now, Google+ to allow brands, businesses to have own pages, Facebook style

London, Tue, 08 Nov 2011 ANI

London, Nov 8 (ANI): Google has finally started rolling out its social networking service to businesses groups and brands by allowing them to set up their own Google+ pages.

The search giant believes that the new Google+ Pages facility would help companies and campaigns engage with their audience.

According to the BBC, organisations would not be charged to use the scheme and Google said that it would not put adverts on their pages.

The company said the organisations can benefit from adding a "+" link to one of the adverts listed on the firm's results or to another marketing campaign.

The page owners can then monitor how many people are clicking through to their Google+ page and where they clicked from.

Google, however, vowed not to pass on individual's IP addresses or any other personal data.

The new service is seen as a further challenge to rival social network Facebook that offers its own Pages service allowing businesses to promote themselves.

According to the report, Burberry, Barcelona football club and the Muppets are some of the organisations taking part in the launch. (ANI)
