MHA asks state governments to forward property returns of IPS officers

New Delhi, Fri, 04 Nov 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Nov 4(ANI): Union Home Ministry has reminded state governments once again to ensure that all property returns submitted to them by the IPS officers in their cadre are forwarded to the Central government forthwith.

"Every officer of the Indian Police Service is required to fill Part II of the Performance Appraisal Report and submit the same to the Reporting Authority. Simultaneously, he/she is required to submit his/her property return to the State Government concerned in a sealed cover and indicate the date of the submission of the property return in the relevant column of the PAR," the ministry said in a statement.

"The PAR for 2011 is due to be submitted on January 1, 2012. Simultaneously, the property return as on January 1, 2011, must also be submitted by the officers to the state government concerned," it added.

It was found that the property returns of 713 officers for the year 2010 (as on January 1, 2011) had not been received by the Central government.

After several reminders to the state governments, the names of officers whose property returns had not been received by the Central government was put on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"Ministry of Home Affairs has noticed that some heads of the police forces and some individual officers have told the media that they had already submitted their property returns," the statement said.

"Unless the property returns are received by the Central government, the record will not be complete and the Central Government has no option, but to assume that the property return(s) had not been submitted," it added. (ANI)
