Patna/Kolkata, Sep 18 (ANI): Anxious residents of West Bengal's Kolkata city and Bihar's Patna city were out on the streets on Sunday evening after an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter Scale shook Sikkim.
The epicentre of the quake is said to be just 68 kilometres North-West of Gangtok.
The tremors were felt in New Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR), Patna, Kolkata, Lucknow and Guwahati.
Locals in Patna felt the tremor for around 10 to 15 seconds. While I was working on my laptop, I felt the tremors. It was for around 10 to 15 seconds," said Rakesh Kumar, a local.
"We were watching television. We felt the tremors. Everything was shaking. It was for around 10 seconds," added another local.
Locals in Kolkata, however, appeared to be more worried following the tremor.
"In fact, I could not feel the tremor. After watching the TV, I got to know that it was 6.1 on the Richter Scale. The scale is too high. Lets see what would happen," said a local in Kolkata.
"I felt the tremors. The scale of 6.6 is too much, but I did not feel the tremors that much. I am anxious right now," added another local.
No casualty reports have, however, been reported into the incident. (ANI)
