New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): Two living stalwarts of the hospitality industry, Sirio Maccioni, founder of the acclaimed New York restaurant group, Le Cirque, and Capt. C. P. Krishnan Nair, chairman of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, have officially opened Le Cirque at The Leela Palace New Delhi.

The restaurant opening marks the first Nair-Maccioni venture in the capital's newest and most opulent hotel located in the heart of the prestigious Diplomatic Enclave.

Synonymous with luxury and high end dining, Le Cirque at The Leela Palace New Delhi was officially inaugurated at an elite power lunch on September 7, which included 25 ambassadors plus select political leaders, while glamorous dinner events on September 9 and 10 showcased fine food, champagnes and wines.

"We are extremely pleased to introduce Le Cirque to Asia at The Leela Palace New Delhi. Le Cirque has been ranked among the best by food critics and esteemed guests worldwide and we are excited to present a fresh new dimension to dining in Delhi. Le Cirque provides an exquisite culinary experience that celebrates Italian and French cuisine. We are proud that the Maccioni family share our vision which is to bring only the finest in luxury to our guests," Nair said.

Designed by Spin Studio of Japan, Le Cirque at The Leela Palace New Delhi, located on the hotel's 10th floor, offers a chic and sophisticated atmosphere, beautifully-appointed bar lounge, alfresco seating and three spacious dining rooms with breathtaking views of the majestic Diplomatic Enclave.

The 144-seat restaurant features an open kitchen with a chef's table where guests can watch as their dinner is prepared just steps away. The average cost for a meal for two persons is around Rs.3000.

Exquisite porcelain Bernardaud tableware and the finest Riedel stemware adorn each table and wine connoisseurs can choose from an impressive list including over 80 Italian and 100 French wines.

"We are thrilled with the guest response to the first Le Cirque in Asia. India has emerged as one of the most important business and leisure destinations, globally. Through our association with The Leela, we aim to bring a luxury dining experience consistent with international standards of excellence to this expanding and discerning clientele in India," Maccioni said.

Maccioni who helped launch the careers of many internationally acclaimed chefs including David Bouley, Daniel Boulud and Jacques Torres, is known for having wined and dined high society in New York for nearly half a century - from Frank Sinatra and Frank Zappa; Nancy Reagan and Ivana Trump to the Pope and King Juan Carlos of Spain.

Along with his three sons, Maccioni operates the fabled New York City restaurant, Le Cirque, as well as Osteria del Circo, and restaurants in Las Vegas, Nevada (Le Cirque at Bellagio, Osteria del Circo at Bellagio, Sirio Ristorante at the Aria Resort and Casino), Dominican Republic (Le Cana Restaurant and Lounge by Il Circo and Beach Club by Le Cirque, both at the exclusive Casa de Campo).

In keeping with local Indian dining preferences, an impressive selection of vegetarian dishes has been added to the menu. Each of the items offered remain true to the Maccioni vision of classic, yet innovative French-Italian cuisine. Signature dishes include Sirio's Pasta Primavera, Mama Egi's Ravioli, Tuna in Pistachio Crust, Paupiette of Black Cod, Cr?me Br?l?e and Floating Island 'Le Cirque'. (ANI)
