Ludhiana, Sep.14 (ANI): A search operation was undertaken at a school in Ludhiana, Punjab, after police received a bomb hoax call on Wednesday.
Police and bomb squad officials cordoned off the school campus and launched a hunt to locate the bomb
As the search operations continued, a police officer termed the call about the bomb as hoax.
"Around 7.30 a.m we received a call at the Control Room from a local PCO (Public Call Office) that an article similar to a bomb had been kept in front of Greenfield School. Hence officials from police, PCR (Police Control Room) and bomb disposal squad are here and the entire school is being checked. So far no suspicious or bomb like item has been found and the search is still on," said Davinder Kumar, Inspector of Police, Ludhiana.
Meanwhile, the school administration declared holiday on Wednesday, which also happened to be the first day of the examinations.
Taking a lesson from the recent Delhi blasts, the local authorities in Ludhiana conducted extensive search operations at the railway station and bus stands other than placing the city on alert. (ANI)
