April 11: Among the top 10 internet sites and a very useful online encyclopedia, Wikipedia is planning to launch an open source fast operations search engine that will help the surfers to search the site in a few microsecond. All this was revealed by Kiruba Shankar, an editor of Wikipedia in India and well-known blogger. Shankar was interacting to the general surfers in Wikicamp, Chennai.
According to Wiki’s official sources, Wikipedia will launch an open source search engine to return the honest result and allowing the users to know truly the ranking which is not available in most popular search engines including Google, yahoo and msn due to their closed system.
The all new Wiki Search engine will be launched in the last quarter of this year. It is still in its preparatory stage. The company’s goal is to capture at least five per cent of the search market. Given the latest statistics the officials know that the search is the fundamental part of the infrastructure of the internet and it is really fundamental to society as well. That’s where the company is targeting, to earn a chunk of the multi-billion dollars enterprise.
