New Delhi, Aug 26(ANI): Congress leader Sandeep Dixit today termed Rahul Gandhi's speech in the Parliament as "landmark", and said that the UPA government should seriously consider the ideas that were put forth by the party General Secretary.
Rahul has called for making the proposed national anti-graft watchdog a constitutional body and to make it accountable to the Parliament.
"Right now we thought of it as statuary body, with adequate powers to do it functions independently. Constitutional bodies are much more powerful body, it has a status and it has importance and I think government must consider his ideas very seriously," Dixit said.
Hazare has been on a hunger strike since August 16 in New Delhi, demanding the formulation of an effective and strong Lokpal Bill, which envisages the set up of a national anti-corruption watchdog. (ANI)
