The Municipal Corporation of Delhi after receiving the Central government’s directive to de-seal properties has asked Delhi residence to submit application under a special law that offers relief.
The Centre has directed the civic body on Feb 02 to halt the sealing drive against unauthorised colonies till December 2008 keeping in mind the upcoming assembly election in the capital.
However, MCD has to figure out the areas for de-sealing which were earlier de-sealed for alleged misusing residential areas for commercial purposes. The present order of Centre came under special provision in the National Capital Territory Laws, 2007, which authorised Urban Development Ministry to issue such directive to local civic bodies.
Hence MCD has requested the affected delhiites to submit application addressing the Zonal Deputy Commissioner for desealing their properties afterwards the local body will decide which property to deseal or not.
Under the special provision the ministry has also asked to suspend sealing action against structures that came up before Dec 31, 2005 hence comes under the special laws. However, de-sealing is yet to start with full fledge as MCD has to identify properties under the protected laws.
According to MCD officials structures including schools, dispensaries, warehouses, farm houses, slums and JJ clusters, religious and cultural institutions will be taken into account of de-sealing.
The whole de-sealing process is seen by MCD ruling BJP as a political stunt aiming the coming assembly election while Centre termed it as a pro-people policy. But considering the number of property to de-seal it is no way going to satisfy all Delhi locals.
