Mumbai Police has registered First Information Report against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi for allegedly ‘stimulating hostility’ between communities and ‘motivating’ public for conducting violence in the city, a senior police official informed media today.

The cases against both of them have been registered in separate places while charges imposed both of them were same, as police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone VII) D Karale said that a case against Raj Thackeray has been registered at suburban Vikhroli police station of northeast Mumbai on Sunday night while a separate case of same charges has been filed against SP leader Abu Azmi at Shivaji Park Police Station in Mumbai.

The police has registered the cases against both of them under section 153 (want only giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 153 A (promoting enmity between groups on the basis of place of birth, residence, etc) and 153 B (imputations, assertations prejudicial to national integration), Karale cited however he did not informed media whether any captive would be done by the police or not against the accused.

Most of the major political parties have welcomed the offence of the police and has appealed police to take some strict action against the accused of enmity promoters.

"Raj and his goondas should be arrested soon," asked Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister of Chemicals and fertilizers commenting on this news.

On the other hand, Jay Prakash Narayan Yadav, Union Minister of State of Water Resources in the centre and Member of Parliament from Bihar said, "What he (Raj Thackeray) has done is objectionable and strict action should be taken."

The so-called supporter of Shiv Sena has also criticized the act of Raj Thackeray, if he were found ‘guilty’, but asked police to ‘probe it correctly and take strict action against the guilty’.

Raj Thackeray is also in the police’s ‘wanted list’ due to a case registered against him by SP leader Amar Singh alleging him violating the law and criminal threats.

On February 03, Raj Thackeray has allegedly favoured the Marathi’s welfare and asked the outsiders to leave the state, while in his counter attack Abu Azami in Shivaji park has criticised the Raj’s statement and said, ‘Mumbai is for every one, not only for Marathi’s’.

Later the activists of MNS have allegedly targeted the North Indian people especially those belong to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and had beat them bitterly.

The Taxi drivers, hawkers and poor had been targeted mainly.

While, according to SP leaders, Raj has also made verbal attack over SP leader Amar Singh and Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan.

A day before on February 02, Raj had commented an alleged ‘objectionable’ comments over ‘Chhat Puja’ quoting “Things like Chhath Puja are just a show of strength for the people from UP and Bihar with intention of harming the Marathi culture. I cannot tolerate such dadagiri and if any attempts are made by them to tarnish the Marathi culture, they will be met with resistance."

He had faced bitter criticism for his statement over chat from UP’s and Bihar’s leaders.
