Kadapa (AP), July 19 (ANI): The scientists from the Department of Atomic Energy (DAR) have found massive uranium deposits at the mines in Tummalapalle village in Andhra Pradesh's in Kadapa District.
According to the DAE officials, the Tummalapalle mine has close to 49,000 tonnes of uranium, which is three-time the original estimate of the area's deposits.
The scientists believe that the quantity of uranium at Tummalapalle may touch 1.5 lakh tonnes, which will make it world's largest uranium producing mine.
Srikumar Banerjee, Secretary of DAE and chairman of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board has said the uranium reserves may have excess of 1.5 lakh tonnes. This reserve has also the potential to produce 10,000 mw of electricity.
