Second Chandigarh Film Festival to start from 1st Feb

The second Chandigarh Film Festival starting from Feb 01-Feb 04, is ready this time with some of the finest films for the city movie buffs. In association with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) the city administration has chosen four venues to puff up audience.

The films to be screened in this festival are chosen keeping in mind the audience of all age group. Apart from popular or critical acclaimed Bollywood Hindi movies, there would be a number of International films, films on children, and also some animated ones.

According to the organisers there will be more than 20 films to be screened in the festival including 9 Hindi films. The administration has also decided to give a special focus to films which have been shot partially or completely in and around the city.

Among Hindi films that are listed to be screened are Chak De! India, Mr and Mrs Iyer, The Blue Umbrella, Dil Chahta Hai, Junoon, Garam Hawa, Zubeida and three films by Madhur Bhandarkar for highlighting social messages in his films: Page 3, Corporate, and Traffic Signal.

A number of international films will be screened including three Hungarian: “Relatives”, “The Eighth Day of the Week” and “Guarded Secrets”, and two Iranian: 'Twilight' and 'Avinar'.

Also there are couple of documentary films directed like “War and Peace” and “A Time to Rise” in the direction of Anand Patwardhan set to be featured during the festival.

Apart from screening of films there would be some interactive sessions on career in entertainment industry by notable personality from the film industry and also an animation workshop and book release function is on the card.

Venues: Fun Republic, PGI Auditorium, Museum Auditorium and Kiran Cinema.
