BJP moves deliberately for the upcoming general election

Amidst much proclamation the Bhartiya Janata Party at its three-day national council meeting commenced on Sunday, vehemently stated that appeasement of minority is not acceptable to the party.

Election fever is gearing high that seems to be reflected in BJP’s three-day national council meeting that. Party is working deliberately and taking every step in a much calculating way. The party made the first move by naming L K Advani as its prime ministerial candidate. Then it got the name approved by its NDA allies. Now the saffron party has turned to praising its new commander.

The party president Rajnath Singh strongly stated that if the BJP comes to power it would strike out any policy that favours minority appeasement and communal budgeting and it will roll back any attempt to earmark funds, especially for districts dominated by the minorities.

The party president Rajnath Singh and the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi condemned the UPA government for cradling the policy of minority appeasement and said the incorporation of dalit Christians into Schedule Caste would allocate them dual benefits in terms of SC reservation and minority reservation, which would eventually lead to religious conversion.

The soft policy on terrorism always paves the way for it to flourishing, which is hazardous for the society and the country. BJP criticised the Congress led UPA government for its soft attitude on terrorism and its affidavit on the Ram Sethu.

Mr. Modi criticised the UPA for its dual behaviour for stopping a special law passed by the Gujarat Assembly to deal with organised crime in the State even though neighbouring Maharashtra had a similar legislation.

The BJP national party approved an amendment to the party constitution that will give its women workers 33 per cent reservation right from the “mandal” level. The decision was taken at the meeting to reserve one-third of the posts in the organisational structure for women, as the first step towards women’s quota in legislature.

After implementation the 81-member National Executive of the party will have 27 women leaders as compared to the present 13.

However, there is no unanimity on giving the same percentage of reservation for women at the central office-bearers level and the Parliamentary Board, the highest decision-making body.

“This council session will go down as a historic one for this reason and it will be mentioned in the history of women’s empowerment in India,” Ms. Swaraj said.

The women’s wing members, comprising Mahila Morcha president Kiran Maheshwari, greeted the amendment with loud cheer. The Mahila Morcha chief will become the ex-officio member of the central election committee that finalises ticket for the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and other elections. State morcha presidents will similarly be ex-officio members of their election committees.

The party president Rajnath Singh went a step further and asked his partymen to follow Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s victory in the forthcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where the BJP is in power.

He further said that it was Advani, who some years ago had projected Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the face of the party and as the prime ministerial candidate. A decade later Advani is now getting his due as he set up the practice of building up a personality cult in the party.
