Panchkula (Haryana), May 26 (ANI): A Panchkula court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of Samjhauta blast case accused Swami Aseemanand till June 7.
The National Investigating Agency (NIA) assured the Judge that a charge sheet will be filed against him before the next date of hearing.
The hearing in the case took place through video-conferencing with the accused lodged in the central jail in Ambala.
Aseemanand's, whose bail plea was rejected by a session court on May 12, had already denied having made any statement to the NIA about his involvement in the Samjhauta blast case.
A total of 68 people, mostly Pakistanis, were killed in Samjhauta Express blast, at Panipat's Diwana village.
Earlier on May 7, a CBI court at Jaipur, Rajasthan, had also rejected his bail application in the 2007 Ajmer Dargah blast case.
The NIA earlier filed a supplementary chargesheet against Aseemanand in Hyderabad special court.
Chargesheet has been filed under sections 302,307,326 and 324 r/w 120 (B) IPC, Sections 13, 15 r/w 16,17,18,19 and 23 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (as Amended in 2004) and Sections 3,4, and 5 of Explosive Substances Act 1908 against him for his role in the blasts.
Aseemanand was arrested from Haridwar on November 19, 2010, where he was hiding with a fictitious name 'Swami Omkaranand.
The Central Government had later transferred the case for further investigation by the National Investigating Agency.
In this case, two prime accused Sandeep Dange and Ramji Kalsangara are absconding, and the NIA has declared a reward of Rs. 10 lakhs each for their arrest. (ANI)
