New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Yasmin Abrar has expressed her happiness over the medical treatment being given to injured sportsperson Arunima Sinha.
Sinha lost her leg when she fell off a train last month.
Abrar went to meet Sinha on Wednesday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Trauma Centre here, where the latter is under treatment.
It has been a month since 23-year-old Sinha lost her leg after she claimed that she was pushed from the Padmavat Express train in Uttar Pradesh on April 11 by three men, who tried to rob her.
The incident took place between the Chenati and Bareilly railway stations, when Sinha was on her way to New Delhi to complete some documents for the upcoming CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) recruitment examination.
Her rescuer, Pintu Kashyap, a vendor by profession, was contacted by Government Railway Police (GRP) to ascertain the situation at the time of accident.
Abrar said she was happy that Sinha was well taken care of in the hospital.
"The condition of Arunima is very good. She is getting very good treatment here. Within the next three, at most four days, the stitches would be removed. We were satisfied after talking to her. When she was being treated in Bareilly, we said she should be shifted to AIIMS as soon as possible and she could have been in a better condition, as they could not make out her back injury in time. The treatment, which she is getting here, we are fully satisfied with that," said Abrar.
On the controversy that surrounded the accident, Abrar said she believed Sinha's version.
"We are not bothered what the Railway, government and the police is saying. We believe what Arunima is saying. We are with her and we would help her gain justice. She told us that she was a sportsperson, and was going by a train, and she was pushed, and she fell, and her legs were amputated," said Abrar.
The Railway Police had said on April 26 that there were many loopholes in Sinha's version of the attempted robbery. (ANI)
