Washington, May 09 (ANI): Action epic 'Thor' has gained number one spot at the U.S. box office chart.
'Thor' struck gold at the box office by hammering the competition with an opening weekend haul of 66 million dollars, reports Contactmusic.
The 3D comic book adaptation, which is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Chris Hemsworth as the Nordic God of Thunder, debuts at number one in the box office chart, forcing 'Fast Five' into second place with 32.5 million dollars (20.3 million pounds).
New romantic comedies 'Jumping the Broom' and 'Something Borrowed' trail behind in third and fourth place, respectively, while animated movie 'Rio' rounds out the top five. (ANI)
