20 percent polling in first two hours of voting in AP by-elections

Hyderabad, May 8 (ANI): Around 20 percent votes were cast in the first two hours of the polling, which began amidst tight security this morning for the by-election to Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.

 

There are 13.29 lakh voters in Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency and 1.89 lakh in Pulivendula Assembly segment. Around 12,000 police personnel have been deployed for the smooth conduct of the polling process.

 

Among the over 1,500 polling stations in Kadapa, 584 have been identified as sensitive, 187 as hyper sensitive and 487 as troublesome. The Election Commission has appointed a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer to each of the seven assembly segments of Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency to ensure that the polling process is not disrupted.

 

The polling began at 8 a.m. and will continue till 5 p.m. The counting of votes will be held on May 13. (ANI)
