Rod Stewart honoured with lifetime achievement award

London , Sat, 30 Apr 2011 ANI

London, April 30 (ANI): British singer-songwriter Rod Stewart has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award in Los Angeles.

During the ceremony, the 66-year-old recalled his first failed song-writing attempt with former Faces band mate Ronnie Wood, reports the BBC.

He added Wood's mother had said: "I don't think the Beatles have got anything to worry about."

Stewart went on to write a number of hits, including 'Do Ya Think I'm Sexy', 'You're in my Heart' and 'Young Turks'.

Although the seven albums he has released since 2001 have just featured covers of other people's songs, the singer said the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) honour would "maybe give me a push up the bum to start writing again". (ANI)
