Ramnagar, Fri, 22 Apr 2011 ANI

Ramnagar, Apr 22(ANI): A tiger attacked two women and a girl child in Uttarakhand's Ramnagar district on Friday, an official said.

"Two groups of women were going to get wood from the jungle in Kosi range when the tiger attacked the group of five to six women in which two of them were severely injured and a small girl child also received scratches on her head," said Ram Shankar Tiwari, sub-division officer of Ramnagar Forest Division.

Tiwari also said that the division was taking care of the injured.

Increasing urbanization and loss of habitat has led to a rise in man-animal conflicts.

Recently, Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh had said that new guidelines have been issued to different states to deal with the complex issue of man-leopard conflict. (ANI)
