Industrial Expo 2011 opens in Haridwar

Haridwar, Mar. 4 (ANI): The Industrial Expo 2011 today witnessed a major crowd on the opening day, at SIDCUL, Haridwar , providing a key business platform for the stakeholders.

 

A joint initiative of CII and Government of Uttarakhand, Industrial Expo is Uttarakhand's first focused B to B Show for medium and small industries, with over 146 exhibitors, divided into five concurrent shows, varying from engineering and industrial maintenance to Auto components and tools alongwith Green technologies.

 

Talking about the focus of the event, Rajiv Berry, Chairman, CII, Uttarakhand State, stated that the need of the hour is 'linkages' and Industrial Expo 2011 is espically geared to address this important issue.

 

"We have infrastructure, manpower, and resources in Uttarakhand. What we need now is to provide a dialogue between manufacturers, service providers and end users. The presence of large companies presents a huge opportunity for the medium and small industries vis-?-vis vendor development, ancillary development, becoming component supplier, services like transport, logistics etc as well as also a huge opportunity for manpower development but it is critical for them to seize these opportunities. The task is difficult but CII is fully committed to provide an impetus to industry to achieve this

 

objective," he affirmed.

 

Attractive destination as a global outsourcing hub and manufacturing base for original equipment manufacturers, the expo attracted industry representatives from various place like Daman, Bangalore, Nasik, Panipat, Ludhiana and Jalandhar.

 

Gurpreet Khalon, Executive Member, Automotive Parts Manufacturing Association Ludhiana(APMA), here at expo with a delegation of twenty member companies said, we are here to explore opportunities. Most of us deal in gear parts and auto fastners and what better location than Uttarakhand to explore business.

 

Narinder Bhambra, President, All India Fastners Association accompanying ten industry members of Ludhiana, complementing the efforts of CII said that the show is neatly organized and there is a lot of information to grab. We met the Tata Motors and Sterlite technologies and are hopeful for something to come up.

 

Where small scale companies were seen wooing and enquiring the industry giants for the prospects, the giants also felt the equal importance of such platforms which are designed to promote intra industry trade, and healthy business relationships.

 

"With an investment of more than Rs 25,000 crore the state of Uttarakhand has attracted top line companies to set up their manufacturing base at Haridwar, Udhamnagar and Panthnagar. With the increase in the manufacturing industry , there comes a need of logistics, outsourcing and additional capacity building.Vicinity of vendor from supply point ,its infrastructure and existing clients are important, commented Deepak Tikle, Vice President and Plant Head, ABB.

 

A big hit with the industries, Vendor Development Programmes at Industrial Expo 2011 discussed vendor selection processes, and the required Quality standards for the suppliers. In all seven large manufacturing companies will be sharing their selection processes during the 3 day expo.

 

The Expo will be formally inaugurated by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Saturday. (ANI)
