New Delhi, Tue, 21 Jun 2016 NI Wire

The Korean smartphone giant Samsung is all set to make bi leaps and is rolling out some interesting flagships. It's Galaxy S7 has just been three months old in the market, and we have come across Samsung working on S7 successor – the Galaxy S8.

With S8, Samsung is willing to compete with the mighty iPhone 7 Plus, which is going to hit the market in the third quarter of the year. Reports further state that Galaxy S8, which will be a successor to Galaxy S7, is to come decked with more superior features.

Confirming its release, sources from Samsung reported that S8 will get launched in the first quarter of 2017.

Reports even state that S8 will focus more on camera and this feature would help the device to compete with the likes of iPhone 7 Plus. The Galaxy S8 as reported will comes with dual camera and Samsung Motors (Semco) is likely to make the lens modules.

Fascinatingly, Chris Chang of Nomura Securities had claimed that all of 5.5-inch iPhone 7 models will come with dual camera, like Huawei P9 and HTC One with such camera feature. Meanwhile, let us here take a look at the proposed features and specifications the Galaxy S8 is rumored to come up with.

Galaxy S8 Expected Features

From the speculations doing rounds in the smartphone market, it has been reported that the all new Samsung Galaxy S8 will likely be seen sporting a 5.5 ultra-high definition 4K display which will have 806 ppi pixel density as compared to 1,440x2,560 pixels (577 ppi pixel density) we have in the current Galaxy S7.

Also, the display will come with 5.5 inch AMOLED and great care is been given in making the design more stunning and striking. It is notable that Galaxy S7 edge also has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen with 1,440x2,560 pixels (534 ppi pixel density). Now, it would be interesting to see what all new things S8 will incorporate in its display to beat its predecessor.

If we consider the other features as sported by Samsung Galaxy S7, the device comes with 32GB of storage, with a choice of expanding through microSD. Furthermore, it has 100GB of Drive storage with Microsoft's OneDrive service. It runs Android 6.0 and comes with a 3600mAh non removable battery. It measures 150.90 x 72.60 x 7.70 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 157.00 grams.

The 32GB of storage as we said can be further expanded by using a microSD card up to 256GB in capacity. S7 is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone and has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G, 4G and NFC. It even includes Sensors such as the Proximity sensor, mbient light sensor, Accelerometer and Gyroscope.

Talking of the camera in Galaxy S7, the device comes with a 12-MP camera that has 4:3 aspect ratios, a super wide f/1.7 lens; with this change the South Korean smartphone maker had taken a step towards bringing in simpler camera interface.

With S7, Samsung had even introduced a new feature named 'Motion photo' which allows you to take a very short video before actually taking a photo. At the front it has 5MP camera which sports the Dual Pixel sensor. These help in making the camera focus and capture a photo in pure milliseconds capture a speedy, immaculate image.

If S8 has to beat its predecessor, it will have to work on these areas as well. We would apparently expect S8 to come up with more storage and a higher Android version. Other than the general sensors and add ons S7 has, it would be great if S8 sports more of advanced features that can make it more distinguishable.

Simple tweaks aren't going to work for the device make a mark. To win over, it needs to offer something really unique! Let's hope S8 would stand as per the expectations!
