It was a magnitude of 6.6 which created some panic and fear among the people of South Asia including northern India on Sunday. The tremor was such a massive that it shaked buildings in Pakistan and Afghanistan including India. However there was not any report of major damage from the areas.
According to the media reports, center of the earthquake was near Chitral in remote northwestern Pakistan. The area is nearly close to the Afghan border and it is at a depth of 210 km (130 miles).
As soon as the earthquake was witnesses in the area, it was the case where buildings swaying for well over a minute and people started to leave the area in a state of fear and panic.
It is noted that there was a massive earthquake was witnessed in the same area in the last year on 26 October which witnesses a massive damage in the area. That time, the earthquake was witnessed of magnitude 7.5. Indian land also witnessed the earthquake specially the Indian capital and also Kashmir.
It is noted that the Hindu Kush area which is the bordering part for the countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan is a seismically active area. The area is called as the danger zone for the point of view of the earthquake and it often felt across the region.
