New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS) Two persons involved in inter-state drug trafficking were arrested and drugs valued at Rs 50 lakh seized from them here, police said on Tuesday.
Rattan Bahadur Singh, 38, and Shanu Ram, 36, were arrested from Majnu Ka Tila area on Monday and 12.5 kg of "Malana Cream", an aromatic variety of A-grade hashish, was seized from them.
"The demand for narcotics increases as the the New Year draws closer. We had information of a drug cartel supplying a large consignment of drugs to New Year parties in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Pramod Singh Kushwah.
Police busted the cartel, arrested the two traffickers and seized the drugs.
Rattan Singh, a Nepalese citizen, had come to India 12 years back and has been involved in drug trafficking. He is said to have supplied over 100 kg of Malana Cream across Delhi, Mumbai and Goa.
Shanu Ram, who works as a driver, is said to have supplied over 30 kg of drugs.
According to police, the traffickers procured the drugs from Himachal Pradesh where it is illegally produced.
