Militants once again attacked in Jammu and Kashmir on an army camp around 5:30 am in Nagrota on early morning of Tuesday, said the officer. The firing was started by heavily armed militants at a field regiment camp located in the garrison town of Nagrota near the headquarters of army’s 16 corps in the state.
The exact number of militants is still not confirmed but two or three suicide attackers may be present in the area and a heavy exchange of fire is going on between the militants and the security forces.
“A group of heavily armed militants, believed to be four-to-five in number, attacked the 166 field army regiment camp in Nagrota area of Jammu today (Tuesday) morning,” said the police officer.
This is the seventh attack in Jammu and Kashmir by militants in the last week. In this attack three jawaans were injured whereas the security forces here killed two militants. The militants entered in the area as dressed in army clothes, as sources reported.
According to the sources, the militants are currently inside in the officer’s mess. On this attack the Defence PRO, Manish Mehta said, “The encounter is currently in progress, however, the number of militants is still not confirmed. We will able to give more details only once the operation is over”
For the security of the people the security forces ordered the area to shut down all the schools of Nagrota tehsil taking as a precautionary measure and sealed off the area. The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh said, “We have ordered closure of all schools and education institutions in Nagrota tehsil in view of the terror attack.”

Due to the attack, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed for traffic in the area as a precautionary measure. The security forces and administration placed Jammu at alert.
This attack was started by the militants around the same time when the security forces suspected the infiltration of militants near the Chambliyal Border Outpost in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir in which the security forces blocked the infiltration. A heavy gun battle was also operated in this operation.
