Panaji, Oct 21 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship Swachh Bharat campaign will now feature in the upcoming 47th edition of the IFFI in Goa, with 20 award-winning short films on the nationwide cleanliness campaign scheduled to be screened during the festival, authorities said on Friday.

The Directorate of Films Festivals (DFF) said the short films were selected from 4,346 entries, selected by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a nationwide campaign organised earlier this year.

"Apart from regular curated packages, the 47th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be showcasing a special package of short films which were awarded at the Swachh Bharat Film Festival, organised and curated by National Film Development Corporation on behalf of the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting," said the DFF statement. The DFF functions under the aegis of the Ministry of I&B.

"'Murga' will be the opening film under this special section of short films. The film promotes the idea of 'Clean India' and has 'Murga' as the metaphor depicting the victims that citizens have made of themselves and of the children by not keeping the surroundings clean," the statement added.

Other short films slated to be a part of this special section include 'Nanha Doot' by Sudhanshu Sharma, 'Chembuku Moodindi' (The Dying Vessel) by KVK Kumar, 'Sarkarmi Rati Wadho' by Akshay Danavale, 'Manini' by Praveen Vyas, 'Shelfee' by Dr Suyash Shinde, 'Tuka mhane' (Says Tuka) by Ashish Sudhir More, 'Bakari Shauchalay' by Devendra Shukla, 'Sneeringly lesson' by Satish Kumar Verma, 'Mawlynnog - The cleanest village in Asia' by Upakul Das.

The 47th International Film Festival of India will be held from November 20 to November 28 in Goa.
