New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS) A 25-year-old man was arrested for throwing acid on his wife in Rohini area, the Delhi Police said on Wednesday.
Amanpreet Kaur, 20, had a love marriage with accused Pradeep six months ago. Kaur left her marital house on October 5 and was staying at her parental house in Sector 16 of Rohini, the police said.
Pradeep allegedly threw acid on her in a park on Tuesday evening when she refused to return to her marital home.
"During the attack, drops of acid fell on Pradeep and her younger sister Varsha too. Both Pradeep and Amanpreet are admitted in a hospital," Deputy Commissioner of Police M.N. Tiwari said.
The police later arrested Pradeep while Amanpreet was shifted to the Safdurjung Hospital.
"She married Pradeep against her parents' wishes. Pradeep was currently jobless, which led to fights between them," Tiwari said.
A case has been registered against Pradeep at the K.N.K. Marg police station.
