Delhi BJP President, Mayors & Councilors Demonstrate Arrested Near C.M Office Demanding Funds For Municipal Corporations as Per 4th Delhi Finance Commission's Recommendations
New Delhi, 11th January. Delhi BJP's Municipal Councillors led by the State President Shri Satish Upadhyay and the Mayors of the 3 Municipal Corporations Shri Subash Arya, Shri Ravinder Gupta & Shri Harsh Malhotra today Marched from Rajghat to the Delhi Government Secretariat shouting slogans demanding implementation of 4th Delhi Finance Commission recommendations on provision of funds to the Municipal Corporations.
The Mayors along with most Councillors were arrested by the Police near Gate 22 of I.G. Stadium on Ring Road even as a group of Councillors led by the State President Shri Satish Upadhyay broke Police cordons and rushed towards the Secretariat but were arrested just outside the complex. They were taken to I.P. Estate Police Station.
A memorandum was later submitted to the Chief Minister Office in support of the demand for implementation of 4th D.F.C. recommendations. Memorandum has been signed on behalf of all councillors by Shri Satish Upadhyay, Shri Subash Arya, Shri Ravinder Gupta, Shri Harsh Malhotra, Shri Asish Sood, Shri Yogendra Chandolia, Shri R.N. Dubey, Shri R.S. Sharma, Shri Mohan Bhardwaj and Smt. Lata Gupta.
The Memorandum condemns the Delhi Government for playing dirty polity and denying proper required funds for the municipal bodies (Memorandum enclosed).
Shri Satish Upadhyay has said that if Delhi Government does not immediately accept implement 4th D.F.C. recommendations to release proper funds Delhi BJP will launch a public agitation.
The Mayors Shri Arya, Shri Gupta & Shri Malhotra have demanded immediate special session of Vidhansabha to present 4th Delhi Finance Commission recommendations and their unconditional acceptance.
