As it was anticipated earlier, not BJP leader and mentor of party's superb performance in Uttar Pradesh during the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Amit Shah will be the new party president. The name of Shah, a close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was announced today in a meeting.
According to sources, Party President Rajnath Singh announced in this regard that he has resigned from the president post as he is now Union Home Minister of the government and now Amit Shah will be the new president of BJP.
With the appointment of Amit Shah as the president of BJP, Gujarat is going to play crucial role as Prime Minister Modi also belongs to Gujarat.
Amit Shah was in the top of all the contestants for the post of president for BJP and one of the leading reasons was his skill in performance of BJP in Uttar Pradesh where he engineered the party’s massive victory. Needless to say, the 71 out 80 seats from UP provided a crucial chance to cross for BJP the magic number 272 on its own costs.
Appointment of Amit Shah is very crucial for the party as it has to face election in the states like Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Haryana. The minority status of BJP in Rajya Sabha is major cause of concern for the party and its success in these states could improve its situation in future in Rajya Sabha.
