Lavasa Corporation Limited announced "Cheetah JKD LAVASA - Advance Module Academy" and was launched by film actor Harman Baweja HCC House, LBS Marg,Vikroli, Mumbai. Weekend Batches, Advance Module Batches and Customized Modules are being announced as the academy course for Martial Art enthusiasts. Herman, while appreciating the concept said that he had trained with Chitah Yajnesh Shetty in past. He said that the art requires concentration and has to be performed away from noisy urban backdrop. Lavasa will fill that role he opined.
Hill City Lavasa will play host to India's largest Martial Arts fest from 18th to 20th April 2014. Leading Indian and international exponents of various martial art forms like Chitah Yajnesh Shetty -President of Chitah JKD Global Sports Federation & Empty Hand Combat India and instructor to over 200 Bollywood and Hollywood stars; and Cosmo Zimik- Director of Empty Hand Warrior – Juveniles Mentor Program, USA and Coach for Olympic Games, will lead a team of martial art instructors from 6 countries and 14 Indian states. Mr. Daniel Chris Docto -Myua Thai Mission Krabi, Thailand; Mr. Sameer Ali Khan – Mixed Martial Art Master from Afganistan; and Mr Saru Veerji ,Shaolin Kung fu Scholar from Nepal are the participants from other countries.
"The objective of the festival is to promote Lavasa as a sporting destination. The city aims to host some 50, 000 students in next 3 to 4 years," said Mr. Nathan Andrews, President Lavasa Corporation Limited. The city already hosts a number of academies and plans to cater to rowing, hockey, tennis, badminton and golf over the next few years.
