There has been much talk about an app being developed by Facebook on iOS about the visual news reader. Now Facebook itself has revealed about the much-anticipated app and its name is Paper.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg had envisioned Facebook to become the 'modern day's newspaper', fully customized as per the reader's need and its outcome is Paper.
At present the company has no plan to expand this feature to other platforms.
Paper app will deliver human and algorithm-curated full-screen articles and photos in categories a user selects like Tech, LOL, and Pop Culture.
The interface will be divided into two parts- top half of the screen will show big photos and videos, while the bottom half shows status updates and link stories.
Users can swipe from right to left to browse through the stories and tapping on a story would 'unfold' it with a delightful animation and lead to take up the full screen where videos auto-play, while pinching the story, folds it back up and returns to the Paper feed.
User can add or remove the content of visual paper by adding or removing sections to it. Users can also share their own stories.
In addition to the Paper app, Facebook has also added a "re-share" button that would allow users to share a particular post again with friends and followers.
The re-share button is placed at the bottom of any post inside Paper and users can tap an arrow symbol to bring up a Share dialogue and tap on 'reshare' to share the post again.
