Five Odisha towns record 40 degrees-plus temperatures

Bhubaneswar, April 1 (IANS) Five towns recorded over 40 degree Celsius temperatures Tuesday as the heat wave conditions continued to grip Odisha, an official said.

The industrial town of Talcher in Angul district, about 170 km from Bhubaneswar, recorded a maximum of 41.2 degrees Celsius - the state's highest temperature of the day, an official of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre told IANS.

The other towns which recorded high temperatures are Bhabanipatna and Titilagarh (41 degrees each), Malkangiri (40.4 degrees), Sambalpur (40.1 degrees) and Bolangir (40 degrees).

Bhubaneswar where the maximum temperatures had shot up up to 42 degrees Sunday however remained slightly cool recording a maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees Celsius Tuesday.

The state revenue control room said there has been no report of any sunstroke death so far from any part of the state.
