Musical concert to celebrate freedom of expression

New Delhi, March 15 (IANS) Highlighting issues like gender bias, internet freedom and Naxal problems, artists from India and abroad will perform March 23 in the capital to celebrate the freedom of expression through music.

In the concert titled "Sounds of Freedom" (SOF), Kerala's alternative rock band "Avial", Egypt's hip-hop musicians "Arabian Knightz", a music and dance band "Bastar Band" from Chhattisgarh and Irish singer Bob Geldof will perform and also address pertinent issues.

It will take place at the NSIC Grounds in Okhla.

The concert will also see the launch of the SOF anthem penned by noted lyricist Neelesh Mishra, and composed and sung by singer Kailash Kher.

"Given the huge potential that art has to generate dialogue and discourse, we hope that through music SOF will be a powerful tool to reaffirm the importance of imagination, creativity and emotion in sustaining and enriching conversations around democracy, freedom and right to freedom of expression," Sanjoy Roy, managing director of Teamwork, said in a statement.

Teamwork is the organiser of the concert.
