Ludhiana, March.1 (ANI): Enthusiasts thronged a three-day exhibition in Ludhiana, Asia's largest hub for bike manufacturing that produces over 50 percent of India's bicycle consumption of more than 10 million every year, showcasing a wide range of national and global brands.
International Bike Expo unveils bicycles, e-bikes, cycles components, accessories, equipments, bike related overhaul such as repair and maintenance service.
Global companies from China and South Korea marketed their products and met buyers in person at the event, which began on Friday. It also showcases electric as well as carbon bikes.
Managing Director of the 'Hero' Electronic Vehicles Private Limited, Gaurav Munjal, said the company had launched 12 new models.
"Last year, we had launched 15 models. Today we are launching 12 models. We have also launched many models in between. We have a range of around 50 different models, including standard bicycle, kid bicycles and adult and high end model. The price range is from 3,000 rupees to 28, 000," he said.
Around 10 Indian manufactures showcased their latest models, both low end and high ends, to attract buyers.
Nearly 30,000 people are expected to visit the expo.
Ludhiana accounts for over 35 percent of the industrial output with 23 percent of manufacturing units and 33 percent of business workforce of Punjab. It houses Micro as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) catering to bikes, cycle parts, auto components, industrial fasteners, machine tools as well as garments. (ANI)
