Gaya, Mon, 17 Feb 2014 ANI

Gaya, (Bihar), Feb.17 (ANI): Residents of Maoist-hit Gaya district in Bihar on Monday demanded stringent policies and security measures to keep a check on expanding network of rebels and their activities.

People said that the state government along with Indian government should formulate policies to flush out rebels and develop the province.

"It is a very critical situation for all the people living in Maoist-affected areas. The network of Maoists is increasing day-by-day in our district. Taking this into consideration, the government should formulate strategies to ensure safety of people and keep a check on rebel network. The state government with the central government should draft effective policies to ensure progress of Maoist affected areas in future," said a student, Mohammed Meraj.

Meanwhile, a retired bureaucrat who has worked in Maoist-affected areas, Masoom Kazmi, said that the rebels stall developmental work taken up by the government and try to make a strong base.

"The rebels are creating uneasiness for the government because whenever the government tries to make an effort to reach to masses through development and education or any other way; they target it and try to foil the attempts. Along with targeting development, they are also target development so that they strengthen their base through extortion," said Kazmi. (ANI)
