Amethi, Jan.22 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and poet Kumar Vishwas on Wednesday clarified that his remarks about nurses from Kerala during a stage show is a script written for the 'Kavi Sammelan' and had nothing to do with politics.
"The Kerala Chief Minister and his goons should apologize for vandalizing our office in Cochin. Tell me a particular line in my poetry that has hurt the sentiments of people," he told media here today.
"Apart from this, it is a script written for a 'Kavi Sammelan', it has nothing to do with politics. If some people are making a huge issue out of this, then it is clearly for a political motive," he added.
He further hit out at the Congress Party, saying that they should apologize to the nation first for unemployment, inflation and lack of safety for women.
"If the Congress thinks that digging out 'kavi sammelan' of 2003 or 2004 will stop our party's mission, then they are highly mistaken. Congress should apologize to this country first," he said.
In a statement issued by Kumar Vishwas, he wrote: "It has come to my knowledge, that an old video-clip of one of my Kavi-Sammelan, has hurt the feelings of many of my friends residing in Kerala. I must say that I don't appreciate any discrimination based on religion, region, gender, caste or creed."
"I never tried to intentionally hurt the sentiments of anyone. Jokes delivered in a kavi-sammelan are scripted and presented in a jocular and lighthearted manner without an intention to harm anybody's feelings. But if some words of mine has hurt the sentiments of my friends, I apologize to them from depth of my heart," he added.
An NDTV report quoted sources as saying that the AAP office in Cochin was vandalized allegedly by Youth Congress workers.
