New Delhi , Fri, 17 Jan 2014 ANI

New Delhi, Jan.17 (ANI): Hours after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi delivered his fiery speech at the Talkatora Stadium here on Friday, party leaders and workers lauded the 43-year-old scion, and said his vision and commitment towards the nation is par excellence.

Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister M.M. Pallam Raju said Rahul Gandhi has set the right message, and added that the party would always think about the people, and give an administration that fully works for nation's welfare.

"He has reminded everybody that Congress Party is deeply rooted in the ethos of country. Congress is an idea that stems from the people and for the people. That would reflect in the way the party would function, and that would reflect in the way the cadre and the leaders would function," he said.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said Rahul Gandhi's vision and commitment towards the nation and the party is exceptional, and added that there is no doubt that the Congress would fight the elections with more determination.

Minister of State for Planning and Parliamentary affairs, Rajeev Shukla said there was a conviction and commitment in his speech

"Listening to Rahul Gandhi's speech, I was reminded of Rajiv Gandhi. A speech like this can be delivered by a national leader only. He has also given a befitting reply to the opposition," he said.

Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said: "We have done 100 times more than what we have promised during UPA 1 and UPA 2. We will do the same now. We have analyzed our achievements. A resolution was passed that Rahul Gandhi will spearhead the election."

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said Rahul Gandhi's speech was an emotional one, and added that it has rejuvenated congress workers

Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam praised Rahul Gandhi for his excellent speech, and also challenged Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to resign from his chief ministerial post and then fight the elections.

"It was an excellent speech by Rahul Gandhi. We completely believe in the democratic set up, and we will fight these elections. Rahul Gandhi will make Narendra Modi sit in his home. If Modi has the courage, then he should resign from his chief ministerial post and then fight elections. He is scared of us," he added.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi at the AICC meet said that the decision taken by the party that Vice President Rahul Gandhi will be the poll panel head is final, and that the Congress was ready for the battle. (ANI)
