Nation pays tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh on 106th birth anniversary

The entire nation is observing the 106th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh today in order to pay homage to his contributions in the Indian independence movement.

Born on 28 September 1907 to Kishan Singh and Vidyavati Banga village of the Punjab Province of British India, Bhagat Singh is known for his revolutionary activities against the British Raj in India.

People from all parts of nation are paying their respects before his statue and many functions are being organised by various organisations across the country to remember Bhagat Singh.

Nicknamed as "Bhaganwala" by his elders which means the 'lucky one', the great martyr lived upto his name by playing an unforgetable role in the country's freedom struggle, which gave him the name of "Shaheed" meaning "martyr".

Gujarat Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party’s PM-candidate also paid his tribute to the freedom fighter and tweeted: "Tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary. His true devotion towards our Motherland will remain an inspiration forever."
