After lots of drama, the self styled Godman and spiritual guru Asaram Bapu has been finally arrested on Sunday midnight when doctors have found him fit for questioning and traveling. He is being carried to Jodhpur via Delhi by plane, reports say.
According to reports, Asaram did not appear to the police after ending the deadline and his son Narayan Rai informed the media that his physical condition is not fit, so he will appear before the police when doctors would declare him fit.
After doctors declaration, police conducted long interrogation and finally arrested him.
He was carried to Indore airport for flying to Delhi where he along with the escorted police personals missed the flight and they had to spent night in the airport. The next day he was carried to Jodhpur Police.
Earlier, the Rajasthan Police is searching for him as he has crossed the given deadline of August 30 of presenting himself before the police in Jodhpur for Interrogation.
After ending the deadline, a team of police has left on Saturday morning for Indore for questing to Asaram Bapu who was reportedly in his Indore Ashram at present.
The police have already arrested Shiva, caretaker of Asaram Bapu, who had earlier failed to appear before the police, on Saturday.
Besides, the police arrested 13 supporters of Asaram, including a woman, for attacking media persons in Jodhpur earlier on Saturday.
The police had summoned Asaram Bapu, who has already denied the allegations, to present himself at Jodhpur police for interrogation till or before August 30 at 9:00 p.m., but he did not appear at the place.
Meanwhile, there is a report that the supporters of spiritual guru have assaulted some media persons who were collected at Bapu’s Jodhpur Ashram.
Asaram Bapu is facing arrest after a 16-year-old girl made a police complaint Aug 20, accusing him of sexually assaulting her at his ashram in Jodhpur.
The spiritual leader has denied the allegation.
Asaram Bapu has been booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Indian Penal Code. A look-out circular has also been issued against the spiritual guru to prevent any attempt by him to leave the country.
