Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh has said that without maintaining discipline and directions they cannot achieve any goal. He also congratulated the team members for attempting a very prestigious and difficult mission. He flagged off the off 18 members NCC Mount Everest Mountaineering Expedition-2013 in New Delhi.
Addressing to mountaineers Jitendra Singh asked them to strictly follow the instructions of their team leader.
NCC has made immense contribution towards adventure activities, especially in the field of mountaineering and has to it’s credit more than 70 expeditions till date. A team comprising of nine NCC brave heart cadets with nine service personnel is attempting to scale Mt Everest and add another feather to its cap.
The team is being led by Col SC Sharma, SC, VSM, a veteran mountaineer with 23 expeditions under his belt. The Team also includes two Everest summitters and two summitters of over 8000M peaks. In preparation of the summit the team has already conducted two Pre-Everest expeditions to Mt Deo Tibba (19688 Ft) and Mt Kamet (25446 Ft), followed by Winter Training Camp at Siachen Glacier.
The team will depart for Kathmandu from New Delhi. After a 20 days long trek they will reach the Base Camp on 24 Apr 2013 which is at an altitude of 17500 Ft. Four camps will be established enroute and on completing the load ferries and acclimatization, the summit attempts will be made between 15 to 25 May 2013.
