Workshop on 'Disaster Management' organized with NDRF

A training programme on Disaster Management has conducted by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA-NW) Govt of NCT of Delhi in collaboration with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Govt of India. The subjects covered in demonstration like Rescue of Live causality from the top floor of the school by rope, Medical Fist Aid methods, Sniffer Dogs show to search the trapped person in any collapsed structure or to detect the explosive bomb etc.

Around 2000 students, staff from concerned school, Nodal officers/Teachers from Deputy Director of Education North-West B&A schools and nodal officers/officials from various Emergency support functions of district north-west witnessed this advance level Disaster Management training.

Gupta (Deputy Commandant),. Gopi Chand (Asst. Commandant), Kulwant (Inspector) from National Disaster Response Force ,Govt of India addressed the target audience regarding the classification of man –made disaster and natural disaster, basic do’s and don’ts in case of earthquake, chemical, nuclear, biological and radiological Disaster.

Total 37 personals from 8th battalion National Disaster Response Force Govt of India demonstrated their specialized skills of search and rescue with their emergency equipments. Some volunteers from school were deployed as rescuers and causalities.After demonstration a workshop on Disaster Management was conducted in the multipurpose hall of the school.

Chairperson District Disaster Management Authority, North-West gave a welcome speech in terms of role of District administration in planning, prevention, mitigation, relief and rehabilitation as far as Disaster Management is concerned.

Around 100 participants attended this workshop. A brief presentation on role of DDMA (North-West) and its composition was given by Miss Neha Siwatch District Project Officer District North-West.

Main focus of this workshop was to aware the nodal officers of Different ESF on latest development in the field of Disaster Management and specially attention on structural safety of schools building.

The workshop was called off after getting feedback from all participants and finally after the vote of thanks to the chair. Subsequent training/demonstration will conducted by NDRF in coordination with DDMA
