Responding to the running protest against the brutal rape of a in the capital, Delhi police on Monday morning closed three metro stations to check the intrusion of protestors for agitation near India gate.
The three metro stations Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhavan and Race Course Road Metro stations were closed at around10.15 am as a precautionary measure.
"We have been asked by Delhi Police to close the Metro stations till further notice as a precautionary measure," said a Delhi Metro spokesperson.
Activist turned politician Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters continued their protest outside Delhi Police headquarters and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where the treatment of the victim is going on. The members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Delhi prepared to march towards parliament asking for amendments to the anti-rape law.
Moreover, Women's groups are protesting jointly at Jantar Mantar.
Following the massive protest against the Dec 16 gang-rape, a large number of police have been deployed at India gate to avoid the previous scene.
Huge number of angry protestors on Sunday stormed the barricades outside the residences of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
