Minister of Public Works Department Raj Kumar Chauhan has said that that Delhi Fire Service was established on March 30th 1942, from that time to till today it has lived up to the standards of service. Delhi Fire Service was established by four service fire stations and 186 personnel, today this service is capable to challenge each emergency. He was speaking on Foundation Day of Delhi Fire Service as the chief guest on the Raising Day Parade Delhi Fire Service.
On the occasion, Chauhan Stated that Delhi Fire Service responded to approximately 22058 emergency calls successfully. In which two of serious in nature Punjab National Bank and Himalaya House in connaught place successfully rescued more than 250 employees by DFS official.
There has been no casualty involving DFS personnel during year 2012. On the direction of Government of India, a team of officers was duputed to Amritsar in 2012 to help the administration in controlling a major fire in Khanna paper mill.
With our continued persuasion 17 Delhi Government Hospitals have been cleared from fire safety, the remaining hospitals are in advance stages of implementing the fire safety measure and hopefully they will also attain the required standard.
Fire safety certificates were issued to 1707 premises in the year 2012, out of which 656 were school buildings. As on date 2738 schools have been cleared from fire safety point of view. One fire Station at Kalyanwas in East Delhi near Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital Khichripur has been commissioned and another at Dallupura is in final stages.
During last year 208 fire operators trainees have been trained at this Academy. Further induction training to 30 persons from ONGC, 56 persons from CRPF and 98 trainees from DIFE Dwarka, 96 trainees from DCFSE Dwarka was provided. Delhi Fire Service Participated in the DEMES (Delhi emergency Management Exercise) First ever state level Medical emergency management exercise, held in Dec 2012.
