New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party's Delhi unit Tuesday demanded a "high level" enquiry into the "massive scam" of worth Rs.2,800 crore committed by the Congress government in the name of regularisation of unauthorised colonies.
"The Congress government has carried out a scam of Rs.2,800 crore in the name of regularization of 1,600 unauthorized colonies. The CAG report clearly shows that no development work has been carried out in these colonies even as the Congress government is claiming that it has spent Rs. 2,800 crore on the same," said party unit chief Vijay Goel in a press conference.
"We demand a high level probe into the matter," he added.
The party said the provisional certificates issued to 1,600 unauthorized colonies by Delhi government arein "blatant violation" of the Supreme Court's order and directives.
Goel said after the release of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on regularisation of unauthorised colonies in Delhi, the Delhi BJP's charges against Congress government are proved beyond doubt.
He said that real beneficiaries were ignored as the provisional certificates were issued without proper verification of the residents and colonies.
"Five years have lapsed since the Congress president (Sonia Gandhi) distributed the provisional certificates on behalf of the government, but these colonies are still struggling for basic amenities. Then, why did the Congress cheat the people of these colonies just ahead of the last assembly election," asked Goel.
