Indian Army officers pay tribute to martyred jawans

New Delhi, Aug. 7 (ANI): The Indian Army officers paid tributes to the five soldiers martyred in the attack by Pakistan soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir at the Palam Air Force Station here on Tuesday evening.

The IAF officials placed wreaths on the caskets of the five martyred jawans to pay their last respects to the brave hearts.

The last journey of the martyred soldiers began from Poonch town. The bodies were draped in the Tricolour at the military hospital in Poonch after a post-mortem.

Four jawans hailing from Bihar, Naik Prem Nath, Lance Naik Shambhu Saran, Sepoy Vijay Kumar Rai, Sepoy Ragunandan and Naik Pundalik Mane from Kolhapur in Maharastra, lost their lives in the attack on Tuesday in Poonch district.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a state funeral for the martyrs of his state.

Kumar today said his government will extend all possible to the families of the martyred soldiers from Bihar.

"We have already announced a state funeral for the martyrs. We will also give Rs. 10 lakh ex-gratia to kin of each martyred soldier and will extend all possible assistance," he added.

A group of 20 heavily armed men led by Pakistani troops entered 450 metres into the Indian Territory in the Poonch sector in the wee hours on Tuesday and ambushed a patrol killing the five Indian soldiers. (ANI)
