Washington, Aug 02 (ANI): Researchers have developed a new app and cradle that can together turn the smartphone into a handheld biosensor which can detect toxins and bacteria, spot water contamination and identify allergens in food.
The cradle and app, developed by researchers at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, uses the phone's built-in camera and processing power as a biosensor.
According to the researchers, the cradle holds about 200-dollar worth of optical components, but can perform as accurately as a 50,000 dollars laboratory device. (ANI)
