Jobs didn't originally agree to iBook store idea: Apple Vice President

Washington, Sat, 15 Jun 2013 ANI

Washington, June 15 (ANI): Apple's senior vice president Eddy Cue has said that the company's founder late Steve Jobs did not originally agree to the idea of having an iBook store for Mac and iPhone.

According to Washington Post, while Cue thought having an iBook store would benefit the company, Jobs was not convinced of the idea and it took Cue a lot of effort to convince him for it.

Cue after realizing the potential of the bookstore on iPads again pitched for the idea and Jobs finally gave his nod to it in November 2009, months before the iPad was announced in 2010.

According to the report, the company is facing strong criticism over deciding e-book prices with the publishers and not retailers, which helped it, earn 30 percent commission from the sales but also resulted in price hike of 2-4 dollars for popular titles.

The publishers later pushed Amazon to convert to a similar model a move believed to be backed by Apple, the report added. (ANI)
